Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the sausage in a large pot over medium heat until browned.
  • Remove the sausage from the pot and set aside, leaving the drippings.
  • Add the chopped onion and sliced bell peppers to the pot.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Return the sausage to the pot and add the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and Italian seasoning.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then add the penne pasta.
  • Reduce the heat to low and cover, cooking until the pasta is al dente, about 12-15 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, and remove from heat.
  • Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
