Savor the Flavor of Baked Ziti with Sausage

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage sweet or spicy
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Mix in the marinara sauce, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, sausage mixture, ricotta, and half of the mozzarella.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the baked ziti sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh basil and enjoy!
